We work on hair types of all sorts and of all cultures. That being said, we do believe that it is important to understand that the feelings of those who believe dreadlocks on people who are not black is cultural appropriation are valid and should be considered. It is a complex topic that is not as simple as yes or no, as there is not one right answer for everyone.
Jazmin, the owner of Those Lovely Locks has written an article to help guide your decision. You can read that HERE. As the article explains, we ask our clients who are not black to not refer to their hair as dreadlocks. Matted hair is common in all cultures, but not all cultures refer to them as dreadlocks. We feel that this goes a long way to give dignity and respect to those who feel that using the word for all matted hair makes it hard to preserve and protect black cultures and hair.

Those Lovely Locks 
I would love to help you with your locks. Every new client gets a consultation at the cost of $20.00. You can decide if you want to do the consultation together with or apart from your installation. During the consultation we discuss the methods used, services offered, proper lock care, and a quote for how much it will cost. The only downside to scheduling them together is that I can not give you a quote until there has been a consultation. I can only provide a wide range of between $350-$550. I charge $60\hr for lock forming. Depending on the length of your hair extensions may be an option for you. Extensions and Installation is also $60/hr and can add between 1.5-3.5 hours to your install. Extensions are very involved with a lot of options. Although it is your choice to schedule your consultation together with or apart from your actual session I do strongly recommend doing beforehand if you are considering extensions. If you decide to do it together with your session we will have to schedule a call to go through everything you will need to purchase the extensions as we do not provide the extensions without a consult first as we are unable to guarantee the accuracy of the order without in-person consults. If you order them with us they are generally between $6-$12/per. Please feel free to call the shop anytime. If I do not answer I am either not in or with a client. If that is the case please leave me a message with the days and times it is best to call you back. A synth install can take between 2-4.5hrs depending on how many you want and hair thickness. I charge $65\hr for synth install and we do not provide the extensions although we can help with the purchase. Let me know if you are interested in working with my apprentice. Their hourly rate is $20/hr, . They have trained for over a year and are only working on their overall tightness and speed when it comes to installations. If you schedule your install with the consult I will need a $50 deposit before it is booked. If you want to do the consultation apart you can give the deposit to me after your consult, again your preference, whichever way works for me. Please email or call us and we can take it from there.
